An unofficial adaptation of a certain beloved episode about a very tired cartoon dad โ and possibly less painful than the original.
If you've watched a certain animated show about an Australian blue heeler puppy and her family, you'll recognize this one immediately.
One or two tired parents. A couch or floor. A sheet of stickers. Kids with energy to burn.
One or both parents lie down โ on the couch, the floor, or outside on the ground. Get comfortable. You are now a mountain.
Kids try to climb the mountain. Over legs, across backs, up to the shoulders.
Parents gently resist. Shift position, roll slightly, make the climb harder. No sharp moves, no actual blocking. Just enough mountain behavior to make the summit feel earned.
The mountain is conquered when the kids manage to stick 3 stickers on a parent's forehead. That's the flag at the summit.
Once conquered, the mountain resets. Go again.
Why it works for tired parents: You are lying down the entire time. That is the whole trick. The resistance is optional and effortless. You can close your eyes between attempts and call it "the mountain resting."
Both parents lie down at once. Kids split up or work together to conquer both summits.
Five stickers instead of three. Different locations โ nose, chin, each cheek. All five must stick at the same time.
The mountain narrates its own weather conditions while the kids climb. "Sudden avalanche warning. The mountain shifts."
Works on the living room floor, the couch, or outside on the grass. Wherever the mountain decides to rest.
Parent tip: If you actually fall asleep, the kids will think they won. They are correct.
